As you may have heard, California is again suffering from extreme heat waves (although, fairly normal heat at our house, in the 90's, which is typical for July; but my brother reported 117 in North Hollywood today) and fires across the state. One very large fire (about three times the size of San Francisco, nearly 90k acres today) is about an hour northwest of us, near Davis, and is near the farm we like a lot and where I get our wheat - Full Belly. I think of them every day and all the other agricultural properties near there. But that's not the only fire burning. The one near the Oregon border is right where we camped last year on our way up to the Pacific Northwest, maybe the prettiest campsite we've ever had. Sigh.
I wanted to let you know that I have so many things to share with you: Harvest time is upon us, and it's glorious. However our main computer is in the shop getting an upgrade, and it's hard to transfer pictures without it. So, I'm hoping to have a garden post full of summer veg for you the middle of next week.
Meanwhile, I'd love to hear what you're harvesting in your garden. Please share in the comments. Recipes appreciated!!!
